The Ondo State Oil Producing Development Commission has presented scholarship awards to about 4,000 students of the state origin, who are in various tertiary institutions across the country.
OSOPADEC is an interventions agency established by the state government to engineer development in the oil-producing areas of the state.
The Chairman of the agency’s Scholarship/Bursary Disbursement Committee, Mr. Akin Adaramola, said on Tuesday that the government was committed to the development of the youths in the region.
He said, “The committee has completed its verification exercise and scholarships worth N75m were presented to the students of the state origin in Ilaje and Ese Odo council areas of the state.
“Each of the undergraduate students collected a cheque of N25,000 while others collected N15,000 cheques.”
Adaramola noted that the state government would soon develop a data base which would make the disbursement less cumbersome.
