Former Ondo State governor, Dr Olusegun Agagu will February 16, turn
62 and his friends, associates and followers are already rolling out
the drums for a red carpet reception which has been described as
'mother of all birthdays'.
According to spokesman for Olusegun Kokumo Agagu Endowment Fund
(OKAEF), under whose auspices the events would hold, Chief Eddy
Olafeso, the ceremony will take place in lbadan at the Civic Centre,
ldi Ape.
The event will feature presentation of scholarship to distinguished
students of geology of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba and the
University of lbadan, lbadan, launch of Dr Olusegun Agagu's biography
and special entertainment for friends and well wishers.
The birthday celebration will be the first to be formally
celebration in lbadan, where he grew up, since he became deputy
governor in 1992.
Although the former governor preferred to host the event at lju
Odo as a back-home event (which some political watchers have dubbed
'subtle thanksgiving and appreciation for his friends nationwide for
supporting him throughout his 22 years in politics), members of OKAEF
felt that lbadan was more appropriate being the city which fostered
the veteran politician academic.
