Egun Day was memorable in Ode-lrele as their sons and daughters home and abroad converged for 11th lrele Egun Day.
Residents, visitors and well wishers in colourful attires trooped out to celebrate with Oba Olofun of Ode-lrele, Oba Olarewaju Lebi, the traditional ruler of the town.
Ondo state Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko who was represented at the occation by his special Advicer on strategy, Saka Lawal assured the people of lrele of immense benefit in his administration with the unity that exist in the town as he charged them to continue to cooperate with their traditional ruler as well as the government at all levels.
Deputy speaker, Ondo state House of Assembly, Hon Mayowa Akinfolarin who led other members to the occation charged the people of lrele and Ondo state in general to always come together irrespective of their political affiliation for the development of their community.
Chairman of the occation, Prof Ajayi Boroffice charged the people of lrele to continue to live in peace as they had been doing in the past as he declared that lrele Day celebration was the best he had witnessed in the recent past.
He said lrele has withnessed tremendous development during the reign of Oba Olarewaju Lebi as he charged the people to cooperate with him declaring that lrele has progressive sons and daughters who must come home to develop their town.
Ondo State Commissioner for works who was the chairman planning committee of the celebration, Pastor Yele Omogumwa charged the people of lrele to give priority to the development of their community pointing out that any political office holder or wealthy people who do not contribute to his community is like an animal.
Pastor Omogumwa who declared that lrele is a pecesetter in lkale land charged people to contribute to the development of their community so that they would be remembered after their demise.
Chairman, lrele local goverment, Comrade Shadrack Olowojuni who was impressed by the large turn out of both the residents and the guests charged the people to emulate the good thing that is happening at the occasion and in the state generally and work for the peace of all.
Welcoming people at the occation, Oba Olarewaju Lebi said lrele people are noted for their self help spirit as Olowo-Ode lrele road was first constructed by lrele people through communal effort before being taken over by goverment.
Oba Lebi used the occation to appeal to the Ondo state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko to take up the matter of the abumdant bitumen deposit in lrele with the Federal goverment as part of effort for the diversification of the economy.
According to him, the proceed from it and the by products will increase the provide employment for the restive youths.
Highlights of the occation was the launching of N100m Ode-lrele Events centre which will comprise skill Acquisition Centre, 1000 seste hall, parks and so on.
Dignitaries at the occation included Hon Boluwaji Kunlere, Chief Adepiti Lebi, Royal Fathers, Business Mogul, Mr Jimoh lbrahim, Elder Oladele Olatunji, Chief Eddy Olafeso, Chief Albert Akintoye, Hon Remi Olatubora, Hon ldowu Ogunmade, Chief Odun Akinbuwa.
Others were: Dr Dapo lwala, Hon Abayomi Sheba, Prophet Samson Oluwamodede, Chief (Mrs) Laide Emmanuel, Hon Yemi Tadema, Dr Amos Akingbe, Pastor John Olorumtimilehin amondst others.
