various awards received would spur him to achieve more for the advancement of the state.
Dr. Mimiko gave this assurance while receiving ‘Best Governor’s Achievers Award in the South
West of Nigeria’ organized by Top Celebrities Magazine held at 10 degrees Even Centre in
Oregun Ikeja, Lagos State.
The Governor who was represented by the Hon. Commissioner for Information, Mr. Ranti
Akerele explained that the various awards earlier received were borne out of the achievements
of his administration in one and a half years.
He informed that by the time, the Event Centre Dome, the Mega Primary School, Gani
Fawehimi Diagnostic Centre and the 40,000 Capacity Stadiums are completed, then
government would have more things to showcase.
It will be recalled that the Governor has previously received several awards from various
organization including Financial Standard Newspaper, National Daily, Rotary International Abuja
among others. While this would be the sixth Award.
Presenting the award to the Governor, the General Overseer of St. Lazarus Christ Church
International Incorporation, Ewu, Delta State, Bishop Dr. Roland O. Adigbo congratulated Dr.
Mimiko for his achievement urging him not to relent.
Addressing pressmen at the occasion, Mr. Ranti Akerele, Commissioner for Information Ondo
State said the award which the governor has just received would be the Sixth Awards the
Governor has accepted out of many he had been given.
Mr. Akerele noted that the award would serve as impetus to Mr. Governor to do more.
His words, “Certainly this would serve as an impetus to do more. The fact that he is being
recognized all over the country with awards; Infact this is the sixth one he has received. There
are so many that have come, even several of them.
According to him, “awards should be given on the basis of specific achievements recorded. For
us in Ondo State we are excited. Certainly there is no government that has been as focused as
Dr. Olusegun Mimiko even in Nigeria not to talk of South West.”
“For us, if our Governor could be adjudged best Governor in the South West in one and a half
year, we can imagine what would be when we clock 2years, 3years, 4years in office with
completion of key projects that are in the offing, the Ore Sunshine City, the Dome in Akure, the
Oba Adesida Road that is being reconstructed, the health care policy, by the time we replicate
the Mother and Child Hospital in the major towns of Ondo State, the markets that we are doing
that is resettling our people. There are so many projects we can talk of. The Abiye Programme,
the Quality Assurance Agency, what we are doing in farming the farm inputs that is being
subsidized.”
The Commissioner emphasized that when one looks at the Caring Heart Programme, the 12
point Agenda of the government; one would see that every of the sector has been touched.
Addressing Journalists at the occasion one of the awardees who is also from Ondo State, Mr.
Tokunbo Modupe Chairman Chief Executive TPT Group of Companies informed them that every
award received was an inspiration, a challenge for him to continue to work hard and to work
smart noting that it was a great honour to him.
He noted that Dr. Mimiko has attracted lot investors into the state with the enabling
environment he has created and as such he would be interested in coming to the state to seize
the opportunity to do business especially in Tourism.
His words, “I can tell you that we are very much interested in the state and much interested in
the opportunities that exist and we shall be taking part in a very big way especially in tourism.”
Other Awardees at the occasion include Governor Gabriel Suswan of Benue State who won Best
Governor North Central among others.
